Your boxes are all packed, the truck is loaded, you’ve handed in your old keys, and you’re on your way to the new apartment. You arrive at your new place, excited about your brand new pad. 20 minutes later, however, you find yourself sitting on the toilet facing a significant dilemma. You realized just a little too late that you forgot to buy toilet paper!

There’s only one right way to avoid any similar moving fiascos before they happen! That is to have a checklist before moving in, and purchasing the necessities in advance. Read on for a comprehensive list of absolutely everything you will need when moving into a new apartment. To make things easy, we have divided it into rooms.

Apartment Checklist: Bedroom

I highly recommend having a bedroom setup available the day you move in. As someone who spent a few nights after a move sleeping on an uncomfortable living room couch, I just have to say that there is nothing you will appreciate more than falling into your old mattress your first night in an unfamiliar place! Especially if you are feeling a little homesick. Bringing blankets, pillows, and sheets from the previous home help combat homesickness as well!

  • Mattress, Bed-Frame, and Headboard
  • Sheets and Pillow Cases
  • Pillows
  • Blankets
  • Night Stands
  • Alarm Clock (if you still use one!)
  • Dresser
  • Area Rug
  • Laundry Basket
  • Mirror
  • Clothes Hangers
  • Lamp
  • Decor

There you have it, the complete apartment checklist. Using this will make your move, and that first colossal shopping trip, a lot easier and just a little more stress-free. Did we miss anything or do you feel as if we have added any unnecessary items? Let us know in the comments below!
